I’m so excited to share this blog! I not only got to be one of the maid of honor’s (or in my case matron of honor) in my best friend Kelly’s wedding but I also got to photograph it alongside Pat. Yup, it was a hectic day but 100% worth it! Thank god for Pat!! He took the burden off of me to get the majority of the photos for the day.
I was going to write a huge blog post about the wedding but then thought, let me share my speech! It sums up everything perfectly! Here it is:
I have to say, I have been waiting to give this speech since I was 14 years old. In fact, I have hung the fact that I will one day be giving this speech over Kelly’s head since then; especially when one of us made our many many many blunders together over the years. Safe to say, we have been through a lot in the past 18 years of friendship.
I first met Kelly when she was dancing the halls of our high school. There was no music playing but she was yelling,”Wooo”. If you know Kelly, you’ll know this is a signature move of hers. I thought, “my god, now this is a girl I can be friends with”! We laughed hard that day and that laughter has not stopped since. Yes, Kelly and I have our own unique sense of humor that no one else understands.
Over the years, Kelly and I have shared every intimate detail of our lives to each other. There’s literally nothing each of us doesn’t know about the other. At least that I know of! Kelly is the one and only person in my life that has never judged me, always stuck by me (even with dumb decisions) and is ALWAYS there whenever I need her.
I remember when Kelly used to say that she would never get married. She just never thought it would happen for her. All of that changed when she called me one day and said, “I went on a date with a guy. I like him but he’s so much younger than me!”. I promptly called her a cougar on the prowl and told her to just see where it went. 10 months later, it went to an engagement. For the first time, I saw Kelly genuinely in love and happier than ever.
The first time I met Rick, I saw how much he loved her instantly. “He just looks at you like he loves you so much”, I told her. Kelly agreed wholeheartedly! I have to say, I have never met a more genuine guy than Rick. He is trustworthy, loyal and very much in love with Kelly. I personally couldn’t ask for a better guy for my best friend to spend the rest of her life with. I truly mean that from the bottom of my heart.
Congratulation you two! Love you!
