Evolving

July 8, 2014

O'Brien Photo > Blog > Business > Evolving

The other day Pat was going through our blog and fixing old links and broken images that were posted back in 2010. He was also reading my old blog posts I wrote and it was highly embarrassing! Even though I wanted to hide my head under a pillow while he was reading, we both said, “Wow have we evolved since then”. I wrote about learning photography, mistakes we made and even how nervous and excited we were about our new photography endeavor.

I look back to over 4 years ago and remember cramming as much photography information into my head as I could. I lived and breathed for learning how to use my camera. I remember back even farther when I picked up Pat’s camera for the first time and didn’t even know how to take a photo in automatic mode or how to focus an image. He told me about shutter speed, ISO and aperture and I blunted told him I’d never understand it and put the camera back in its case. Admittedly, it took a long time for it all to click with me. That didn’t stop me though, I was determined.

A lot can change in 4 years…a lot can stay the same as well. I still get nervous before every wedding. I still want to always get better in my photography. And the passion for the art has never gone away. While looking back on photos taken in 2010, I thought of I could improve upon and what I would do differently. At the same time, it was nice to see that a little bit of determination and a lot of practice can take you a long way. Our photography has evolved so much as well as our business. It makes me excited to see where we are in another 4 years.
