We all know how thankful I am for Pat’s ultra nerdiness to keep the business/website up and running at all times. If there is one thing he is good at, it is keeping everything running smoothly on the tech side of the house. When it comes to an actual wedding day, there is more that Pat does for this business that I never really recognize.
Would you have ever thought Pat could be a bride’s BFF on a wedding day? Well, he is. He always keeps things on schedule, helps carry the trains on dresses, holds drinks and I’ve even seen him fix a bride’s veil in her hair. Where he learned that talent, I may never know! While I’m busy of thinking of the next location to take photographs or how things are going to be running, he’s in the background making sure everyone is happy. For this, I can never thank him enough!
He also makes sure everyone is where they need to be and looking at my camera. When there are usually a lot of other people with cameras around us, this is vital to getting everything done on time. World’s best wrangler? I think so! He is usually a more reserved kind of guy but that boy has some lungs on him on a wedding day. I can hear his voice ringing in my head yelling, “Everyone over here please! Look here please”! He’s usually frantically waving his hands over my head during this time. I have to say, I barely even notice him doing it anymore.
His photos. Ugh, I get jealous of his photos!!! Since it’s my role to do all of the posing, choosing locations and directing, I can sometimes miss cute candid moments. My brain is going a million miles an hour thinking of the next thing. While I’m doing this, he’s getting the photos of the bride and groom having a nice moment together or the wedding party making each other laugh on the sidelines. We also have a deal that he shoots tight in and I shoot wide. If you see any photos that show the big picture of what’s going on, that’s probably mine. If you see a more close, intimate shot, that’s probably Pat’s. Not always, but the majority of our photos are like that.
Last but not least, he sets up all of our gear and puts it all away! Yep, when I hop in bed after a long day, he’s going through a mound of equipment and backing up all of the photos. He may give me an evil glare across the room but we all know I would just be in his way! That’s what I tell myself anyway…
Needless to say, I don’t know what I would ever do without my hubby by my side on a wedding day!!
Here’s an example of Pat’s photo from Cait & Chris’ wedding on Saturday; below is an example of mine. There are both shot in the exact same spot. In my mind, you can’t have one without the other.
Last but not least, me and my partner in crime in Vermont this weekend.
