Pat and I have started our Christmas shopping for each other. ..aka we went to the mall the other day and I found a really cute purse at Aldo. I waved my hands frantically to Pat sitting outside the store bored and playing angry birds on his phone. I told him to come in and he looked up at me and shook his head no. “Pleeeeease”, I begged and begged. He finally put his phone in his pocket and slowly sauntered over my way.
“This is what I want for Christmas, keep it in mind”, I proclaimed. He then proceeded to tell me he was buying it now just in case it’s not available anymore by the time Christmas comes. “Don’t worry, I’ll wrap it for you”, he says. He made his way up to the counter, pulled out our mutual debit card and made my beloved purchase. I was so so happy…until he asked for me to carry the bag because he didn’t want to be seen carrying a bag from a women’s store! Of course I refused. I mean, really?! Somehow by the end of our trip and 5 other bags in tow, it ended up in my hands.
Sooo….I guess this is how married people buy each other Christmas gifts??? Last year was our first year as a married couple but we still had everything separate at that time. This year is a whole new ball game. Last night Pat was on his computer and yelled to me, “Kaaaaaaate, I found my Christmas present”. He showed it to me, said he’s buying it and will let me wrap it for him. This may be the easiest shopping we’ve ever done in our lives! I’m not sure whether to be proud of the fact we’re doing this or hide in the corner in utter shame. Of course we won’t be doing this for every gift but I have to admit, I find this pretty hilarious.
Please tell me, aren’t we the only couple who does this?? I don’t think we possibly could be. And just for some added cuteness, here’s a photo of Kali at Christmas as a puppy!
