Pat has been down and out the past week or so. His entire Facebook news feed has been photographer friends sharing photos of the milky way one after the other. To prove it he showed me his feed…..over and over! The last time we got to see the Milky Way free of any city lights was back in 2010 when we went to Yellowstone National Park. Luckily for him, we went camping in Vermont this weekend and he was PUMPED UP for the meteor shower that was happening this week. He gets as pumped up for meteor showers as I do when a I see a preview for a Real Housewives reunion! I won’t be shocked if he builds an observatory with a giant telescope in our next house.
We trekked out from our camp site on Saturday night with his sister, brother in law and some of their family to watch the meteors by a lake. You could literally see every star in the sky and to Pat’s delight, you could see the Milky Way. It was pretty amazing! As we watched the shooting stars whiz by, Pat had his eyes glued to his camera to get this shot. I can definitely say, he’s now a happy camper! Oh, and since tonight is the height of the meteor shower, he’s on a mission to drag me out at midnight again tonight to see more. Guess I better start drinking my coffee now!
