Okay, I don’t want to jinx us, but it seems like Halloween is on tonight. Last year, we had that freak snowstorm that not only took our power out for 9 days but cancelled Halloween! In Pat’s eyes, that was a disaster in itself. This year, we had Sandy coming up the coast so Pat hadn’t set anything up but the graveyard in the front yard which he promptly took down. We also may or may not have dug into the Halloween candy thinking it wasn’t going to happen….Kit Kat’s…mmmm… Luckily though, we were spared from damage.
Maybe I’m getting ahead of myself here. Friends, family and longtime readers know this about Pat but for those of you who don’t, the man is obsessed with Halloween. No, really. Obsessed. Our house gives children nightmares. We joke that kids lose candy at our house instead of coming to get it. Every November 1st, we wake up to clean up the mess and the driveway is riddled with sweet tarts, Milk Duds and M&M’s from children throwing their hands up, screaming and running to the streets. I did a post on it a couple of years ago, if you want to check it out click here.
So far, we just started setting up because we thought it was going to be cancelled again. We’ll see what Pat can pull off by tonight. We can’t disappoint the kids, in which we get hundreds. Seriously. We also have to live up to the reputation of being “that house”. Plus, it’s most likely going to be our last year doing Halloween there before we move and ruin other neighborhood children’s dreams.
I share this video from us and Thom from TJ Productions scaring children every year but it never gets old!
