My friends and I just had an amazing weekend away sailing, drinking Bahama Mama’s and rocking glow in the dark 80’s gear without a care in the world. In our minds, we took over that boat in glittery visors, glow sticks galore, Team Kate t-shirts and a mini boom box on our shoulders blasting “I’m on a boat”! We walked through the halls of the Norwegian Sky and turned heads like you’ve never seen. Making a scene = all of us being in our glory and laughing with tears streaming down our faces.
For every good time we had, we had a dose of reality the next. While at the Great Stirrup Cay Island, we rented huge floats to lie in the ocean, tan and relax. After about a half hour or so, we looked up and saw we were headed toward some giant rocks. Before we knew it, my cousin Dave and I entered the Bermuda triangle of the Bahamas and were being bashed up against rocks and barnacles. Dave was yelling, “We’re shipwrecked!!! We’re shipwrecked!” and was trying to use his legs as a propeller to get us away from our impending doom. We couldn’t escape the vortex! I then suddenly I heard a POP and the next thing I knew I was bruised, scratched and flailing around some barnacles. No worries though, a lifeguard jet skied over to us, gave us the thumbs up or thumbs down motion and then just jet skied away! Thanks for your help even though we gave you a giant thumbs down! This was the first of many times getting “norwegianed”; a term we made up every time something bad happened and we blamed it on the cruise.
This is the only picture I have from that island because we had one rule: no bikini shots!
Despite having a room the size of a thimble, getting barnacled, eating some pretty terrible food, getting stung by bees in eyes and my friend Jess being hit on by a bus of barely 18 year olds, we had the best time ever. My friends pulled out all of the stops for my bachelorette party and went way above and beyond for me. I am way too lucky to have a group of friends who are that thoughtful and amazing.
Thank you all! This is one trip I will never forget and definitely never stop laughing at getting “Norweeegianed” over and over again. Love you!
Here’s my bridal party, aka Team Kate and I before we went out to 80’s night. Yes, we actually stayed out all night in these outfits with no shame. And no, I didn’t know a thing about this ahead of time.
We made a lot of friends in these outfits at Club Dazzles! The guy in the red hat couldn’t get enough of our flair. Can’t blame the man.
There was a white party on the pool deck one night and we tried to act real classy beforehand at dinner…it didn’t last long.
After dinner they did some decorating to our room and surprised me. I can’t show what the room was decorated with but lets just say it was very “bachelorette festive”.
Our crew at dinner.
Last but not least, thank you Norwegian Sky for our sweet accommodations!!
