I remember when birthday’s used to mean waking up to purple streamers on a new bike, pinning tails on donkeys and putting together the world’s best goody bags for my friends who came to my party. My only mission in life was to find jacks, bazooka gum and endless fruit by the foot for my party goers. That and I dreamed of getting a Skip It after I tore up my giant Rainbow Bright cake. You ladies know what I’m talking about!
On Saturday, I am turning 29. The last year of my 20’s…really?! The only dream gifts I have now are a massage, a mojito and a nap. In that specific order. So much has changed from my early 20’s to my late 20’s. I used to be concerned about what I was doing on a Saturday night. I felt like I had to go out on the town or life as I knew it, was a bust. Now the only plans I want to have on a Saturday night is to be photographing someone’s wedding or having date nights with Pat. Those consist of watching romantic comedies in the comfort of our own home, a giant bowl of popcorn and Kali begging for every bite that passes her nose.
For my big birthday celebration we will be photographing Kristy & Justin’s wedding and then getting together with friends later that evening for my last hurrah as a 20 something. Meaning, I’ll probably be so tired from the day’s festivities that I may fall asleep at my own party. Oh almost 30, you kill me!
