I always said I’d just get married at a small destination wedding and then a ring was slipped on my finger and that all went out the window. All of a sudden, I did a 180 and wanted a real wedding where I could party until the wee hours of the morning with all my friends and family.
That said, when I was suddenly bling blingin’ on my ring finger, I had 2 priorities in my head that were a MUST and I didn’t want to skimp on: the venue and photography. I wanted a tented, outdoor venue with an old feel to it and I found that perfectly with the Publick House. It was more than we originally had in our minds but we went there and it was so Pat and I. I couldn’t imagine it being anywhere else. I obviously say photography since we photograph weddings but it really is so important. It’s the first thing I set my money aside for because what other day in my life is going to be as big as my wedding to be documented? Well, maybe the day I reach my goal weight and suddenly want a photo shoot of my abs and buns of steel but let’s be real, that’s not happening any time soon!
All of the other aspects are so important to me as well but we are attempting to stay budget conscious by doing things ourselves like the centerpieces, favors etc. It also gives me a chance to get down and dirty with some DIY projects which I’m in love with. I’m finding all of the small things are adding up real quick though.
Who has tips for me? By tips I mean both tips for staying on budget and for my wedding tip jar. I’ll take either.
Leave some love:
