Yesterday I posted about the struggles we’ve had as photographers. Today, I want to go to the light side and talk about the perks! There are many and they far outweigh any bad.
Numero uno: We get to work with great people. Seriously. Since I put out so many stories about Pat and me, people come to us knowing our sense of humor so we get along like peas and carrots. When a bride tells me, “that blog you posted the other day had me cracking up”, I know we’re going to be fast friends and that if I do the moonwalk at their wedding, it’ll be appreciated.
Numero dos: Creativity. I’ve always been a creative person. Always. I’ve just never knew where to channel that energy. Once I picked up a camera, that was it for me. And I should say, once I started photographing people, that was REALLY it for me.
Numero tres: (I’m getting nervous I’ll have to Google numbers in Spanish soon) Having fun. Pat and I always try to have the most fun possible with our clients. I have no problem making sweet jokes to lighten up the mood for all of us. To me, there’s no better picture than a couple laughing together.
Numero cuatro: Community. I never realized that the photography community is like a cult…I mean that in a good cultish kinda way, one where they don’t tell you to drink the kool-aid. Well, they might, but you can ignore very easily. But really, there are so many groups and forums that are filled with people willing to offer their help. Twitter and Facebook are packed with them.
Numero cinco: (Okay, I Googled now. It’s been awhile since Spanish 101) Satisfaction of seeing yourself grow. I look at work I did when I first started and even the photos I’ve taken just a year ago and say, “I thought that was good?!”. Seeing the evolvement of our work leaves me beaming from ear to ear on a daily basis. I can’t wait to see what I’m saying this time next year.
Last but not least, I get to work side by side with Patty O.
