It’s my birthday. I have no plans other than to relax, possibly catch up on some errands and have dinner with my family. Remember when birthdays were the highlight of your year? Yes, this birthday is a far cry from waking up to a purple bike with purple streamers in my bedroom when I turned 8. Or the year I played Pin the Tail on the donkey and gave away bubble gum, tootsie rolls, jacks and bouncy balls in goodie bags. I was the jam in school the following day. These days, I’m the jam when I have a couple glasses of wine and don’t wake up nauseous the following morning.
Now, I’m staring 30 in the face and have convinced myself life as I know it, is over. Ok, I’m exaggerating but I just don’t feel like I’m 28. Well…actually, I say that but then I look at a 21 year old and definitely feel like I’m 28. My priorities have shifted from going out til the wee hours in the morning to making sure my garden is looking diz-ope and watch Extreme Couponing while taking notes.
Seriously though, I’m really happy with where I am in life right now. I have an awesome fiancé, the best dog in the world, an amazing family and friends that just don’t quit being hilarious. There’s nothing else I could ask to get for my birthday…besides some new clothes. I could use some new spring outfits. Get on it people.
I asked my mom to scan a picture of me that she has at her house of my first birthday but she never got around to it. Thanks Mom!
Instead, here’s Pat and I with our friends at another birthday party. Lame. But that pose: fierce!
