I honestly don’t know where to start about our WPPI adventure. It was non-stop learning, networking and walking…and more walking. We took 7 classes while we were there. They ranged from branding and pricing to posing and interaction with your clients. It was so much information so I took some advice from a WPPI veteran who told us to only take home what we can realistically put towards our business. We now have a list of everything we want to change, and that list is long. I can’t believe we almost skipped out on this opportunity until we got a swift kick in the bum to go. I can say that we both walked away better photographers and especially, better business people.
I’ll share what we thought were the most important points but I think I’ll have to divide it all into a few separate blog posts. For now, I’ll share some quotes we heard in our classes. I didn’t write down who said them, oops, but they’re still good none-the-less.
Pat and I took these photos in and around Vegas.
“Photography is nothing, it’s life that interests me.”
“People don’t always remember what you say, but remember how you make them feel.”
“The goal is not to change your subjects, but for the subject to change the photographer.”
“Most things in life are moments of pleasure and a lifetime of embarrassment; photography is a moment of embarrassment and a lifetime of pleasure.”
“If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn’t need to lug around a camera.”
“A photograph is the pause button of life.”
