I don’t want to refer to this as my resolution post, rather our dreams and outlook for 2011 post. Resolutions are easily broken, but dreams, they never go away.
2010 was good to both Pat and I and 2011 is shaping up to be much bigger and better. As we connect with new people, whether it be clients, friends or photographers, the dreams we’ve been wanting for so long come closer to reality. Along with that, our lives have been happier, more relaxed (yet more stressful at the same time, but good stress) and definitely much more fun. This brings me to what we want to achieve in 2011, besides dropping a pants size.
First off, I’d love to take some classes and workshops this year to improve my photography, such as technical skills or business skills. The more knowledge we have, the better it will be for us in the long run. We also have a few potential weddings we can be shooting in 2011 but we want to have a minimum of 5 booked this year since we are just getting into that side of things. We’re on our way with family portraits so we want to keep learning on that end as well. There’s so much to think about, like posing, lighting and communicating but those are only the tip of the iceberg. If we take more time to invest in ourselves and acknowledge our faults, it will only make us better photographers. That will be my main focus in 2011.
Kate – I want to take more time and focus on things that I find enjoyable; like shopping and eating chocolate…just kidding, kind of. I’m really talking about things like being more active. I would like to go snowboarding a few times this year. It’s been awhile since I’ve gone and my snowboard just sits in the basement and sulks when I walk by. I need to let my inner snow bunny out again. I also don’t want to get caught up in negative things this year. I easily let the negative get to me but I want to focus on the positive.
Pat – I asked him to write me a list so here’s what he gave me. He wants to lose a few pounds but told me, not a lot! Little does he know I have boot camp set up for him in our basement. He also wants to shoot more. No, not guns…well, yes probably guns too but he was referring to photography. He loves landscape and HDR photography in his spare time so he wants to get out more, explore new places and build his landscape portfolio. He’s also looking forward to more travel this year.
Together – I think we’re on a good track so if we can keep up this streak, I’ll be happy!
What are your goals for 2011?
