Earlier this year, Pat’s sister Kelli asked him to take her engagement pictures with her fiancé, Matt. This was new territory for both of us since Pat started off with landscape photography and I sort of followed suit, in my own way. We didn’t really know posing too well and we all kind of worked together to see what looked the best. So glad she’s a family member so we felt comfortable practicing with live human beings and not just a serene tree in the distance. 🙂
We walked away with a few really great pictures of the two of them. We also walked away and said, ok time to learn more about that side of the business. From there, we’ve taken a couple week long seminars on family portraits and weddings. We learned about posing, interaction, lighting etc. My head was spinning with so much information but it was also a huge help since we’re both self taught. Well, he taught himself and then taught me, so I cheated.
Ever since Pat took Kelli and Matt’s pictures, we’ve kind of blown up in a short period of time. Before we knew it, we had to create a website, a new logo, write up contracts, think about opening a business account and even what version of Quicken to buy. We’re still working on that one. So far, we’re headed in the right direction. Kind of scary but also very exciting at the same time!
Kelli and Matt, we both can’t wait to be a part of your wedding! Congratulations from your maybe sister-in-law one day and your favorite brother. We also want to thank you for being so supportive and helping us with another perspective on absolutely everything.
Here are a few shots of their engagement pictures.
